Short-Term Rehab: Helping You Get Back to the Life You Love
Contact our Team
The rehabilitation area of a senior living community is not like a hospital, or even like individual rehab facilities or skilled nursing facilities you may be used to. Many patients and residents utilize this area of care after a hospital stay, and the suites and spaces are designed to be warm and comfortable and reflect a homelike environment. Plus, all residents in our short-term rehab center have access to the wonderful services and amenities as our Life Plan Community residents.
Short-term rehabilitation helps individuals recover and regain independence following a hospital stay, surgery or illness. At Burcham Hills, our program provides intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy in a supportive residential setting. The goal is to help residents rebuild strength, mobility and daily living skills so they can safely return home. Short-term rehab programs for seniors typically range from a few weeks to several months, depending on individual recovery needs.
Individuals may qualify for short-term rehabilitation at Burcham Hills following:
- Hospital stays of three or more days for stroke, heart attack or major surgery
- Joint replacement procedures (hip, knee, shoulder)
- Serious illness or injury affecting mobility or daily functioning
- Fractures or orthopedic conditions requiring rehabilitation
- Neurological conditions needing specialized therapy
- Wound care management combined with therapy needs
Qualification is determined by your physician and healthcare team based on medical needs and rehabilitation potential. Medicare and most health insurance plans often cover medically necessary short-term rehabilitation services. Our admissions team works with hospitals and families to ensure smooth transitions and verify insurance coverage.
